Our Story

Our story begins in 2018 in the beautiful Ruby Bay area of the South Island, where Danielle started pouring Opal + Sage candles in her garage. After four years of selling at local markets and to local stockists, she decided to focus on her family and sell the business to someone who believed in what she was doing.

It's at this moment where I come in.

A transformative Yoga retreat in 2022 sparked a profound realisation within me. I knew then, with unwavering certainty, that I needed to realign my life's work with my spiritual journey. After a decade in the corporate world, I felt the call for a significant change.

I wanted to support people in their journeys, I wanted work to not feel like work, and I wanted a supportive environment in which to start my own family.

And then, I discovered Opal + Sage. It was a moment of pure alignment. I've always had a deep affinity for crystals, and while I had never poured a candle before, I was captivated by the creative process.

From the beginning, it's been important to me that we source ethical crystals, our candles are naturally derived, and our business works towards being better for the planet.

Our mission is to infuse more Glimmers into this world—more moments of calm and joy. It's my hope and intention that when you choose to buy from us, you're inviting a Glimmer into your life.
